Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Blooper, bloomer, faux pas ... I have to apologize and say sorry to you guys and say Astaghfirullah to Allah سبحانہ وتعالی for forwarding a wrong concept.
You know the (new) note I wrote about my experiment with the brown paper niqab? Well, as it turns out, it is not allowed. Yes, sigh!
I wrote it in all good faith because when I had asked earlier about the women's ihraam, I believed by the answer given me that no 'fabric' should touch the face. So I concluded that paper would be okay since I had seen many women wearing a surgical mask during Umrah. But after I sent the editorial, I kept having a nagging feeling so I decided to ask again.
Well, it seems that nothing should touch the face, not fabric, not paper, not leather. So ... back to the cap and veil. And it is okay if the fabric touches your face sometimes during ihraam so long as it is permanently not there. You just have to give a little sadaqah for the inadvertent mistake.
Now I will have to give 'dam' in Makkah tul Mukarramah. It means sacrificing an animal to expiate for a wrong done during the ihraam for either Hajj or Umrah. So generous of Him for keeping this loophole, what would I have done if He had demanded another Umrah for expiation? I really love His Rahmah, don't you?
But, I do wish something ... I wish I would have a greater percentage of successful experiments than unsuccessful ones. Oh well, that's me. I just hope my mother doesn't get to know this or the consequences could be quite dire!
