My mother was with a group of women, waiting for her turn to offer two rak'aat nafl salat at Riyadhul Jannah when a few ladies rushed ahead of them. Witnessing this, someone in the group said something about "these Arabs"; she had obviously mistaken the Pakistani ladies for Arab ones. Now Ammi is one of the people who want to remain quiet and unnoticed wherever they go, but here Hubb-e-Nabawi صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as well as sincerity and love for her fellow Ummati compelled her to speak. She turned to the young lady beside her and said, softly and affectionately, "Beta, we shouldn't say anything about Arabs. Our Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was Makki, and then Madani. Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was an Arab; love the Arabs out of love for him صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم."
Rasulullah (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم)'s love is present in a Muslim's heart anytime, anywhere, and they were standing right in front of Raudha-e-Rasul صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. The words touched the hearts of the addressee and the addresser so the tears flowed from their eyes. Their hearts engaged in repentance and istaghfaar till their turn to pray came shortly afterwards.
After taking her afternoon nap, Ammi saw a dream that made my hair stand on end when I heard it over the phone. It was a dream of qurb, closeness to Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. Women covered in black, are on their way to perform Hajj, and she follows them. She finds a place to perform ablution, does wudhu, and sets off. Sometime later she finds herself actually inside the Raudha-e-Rasul صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
Allah gave my mother the taufeeq, Alhamdulillah, to say such loving words at a place as sacred as that. Every time I think about this incident, it moves me. This love for the Arabs might seem like something small, but it's a sign of love for Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, which itself is due to love for Allahسبحانہ وتعالی as Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم is Allah Ta'ala's beloved. Today I came across a relevant Hadith that I'd like to share with the readers.
Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said, "Allah, the Mighty, the Glorified, chose from His creation the children of Adam. Then from the children of Adam He chose the Arabs. Thereafter He chose from the Arabs the Quraysh. Then He chose from the Quraysh and from them He chose the children of Hashim. From the children of Hashim He chose me, and I am the best of the best. Whosoever loves the Arabs loves them because he loves me. Whosoever hates Arabs hates them because he hates me."
May Allah سبحانہ وتعالی bless us all with the wealth of true love for Rasulullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
