When the height of ignorance and darkness covers the world, when the lovely green land turns into a rough plain due to famine and drought, then Allah, the Almighty changes that world of ignorance and darkness into a majestic world. In the fearsome season of droughts and famines the mercy of Allah makes the whole world thrive again.
About fourteen hundred years ago, the entire world was full of evil and sins. There were no checks and balances of any type. Injustice, iniquity, impoverishment and disputes held sway. Enmity continued for many years and sometimes lives were ended but the disputes remained. The Arab world was immersed in ignorance too. There was the rule of the empowered people and the poor were being crushed by them. Arabia had become a land of warfare, arrogance, betrayals, violence and intimidation. New-born girls were buried alive. In this environment, the Prophet of Allah, Rasoolullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم arrived. He came like a beacon-light of guidance, a symbol of mercy and changed the world. He was the apple of his nation's eyes even before prophethood. He was called ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ by his people due to his extra ordinary honesty and truthfulness. He was a man of noble character. His life was a perfect model and example for the people who wanted to attain goodness, piety, and success in their individual as well as social lives. He was the best son, the best husband, the best father, the best father-in-law, the best grandfather as well as the best Prophet of Allah. Then why should we not love Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم who was the best man not only on earth but also in the entire universe?
He is our Prophet. He was sent as a Messenger top erase ignorance from the world and He did. He cleaned the earth from evils, turned inhuman beings into humans, barbarians into civilized people, tyrants into lovers of humanity, he changed the entire atmosphere. People who were thirsty for the blood of their relatives were now living a life of love and understanding and happiness.
He often said, "All Muslims are brothers in Islam."
Rasoolullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was a kind-hearted person. He used to love his nation, his ummah. He loved even the Kuffar and couldn’t bear the thought of them being punished in Hell. He was so kind that he never thought of taking revenge even from his sworn enemies. Only the enemies of Allah were his enemies. His eyes became wet whenever he saw someone in difficulty. His nights were spent in the worship of Allah and days in the service of mankind. He loved his ummah. This can be proved by this:
"Every Prophet was given a prayer which would be fulfilled at once. All the Prophets used this opportunity but Rasolullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said that on the Day of Judgment he will use it to save his ummah from the punishment of Allah, due to their misdeeds."
This shows his love for us then why should we not love him? Why should we not obey him. Why?
While leaving this world, on his death-bed he proclaimed, "If I owe something to anyone; or if I have wronged any person, or damaged anyone's property, honour, my person, my honour, my property are here; he may take revenge on me in this world."
A person of such magnitude transcends the barriers of time and space. People of all ages can find something in his life to provide them with guidance in their various fields of activity. The Holy Quran has clearly mentioned this aspect of his life, "Indeed in the messenger of Allah (Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much. (33:21).
