When Javeria's parents shifted into their new home she was extremely happy. She thanked Allah سبحانہ وتعالی for His great favour over her and her family. She fixed a special corner in her room for prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran. After setting the house furniture and offering ‘Isha prayers, she began zikr. After zikr and before sleeping, she took up the Islamic magazine 'The Truth' to read. It was her old routine to read the 'The Truth' before sleeping. She had read just a few pages of the magazine when her eyes began to close. She kept the magazine on the table near her bed and settled down to sleep but suddenly the sound from neighbour's house made her wide awake. The sound was 'Laa, laa, laa, laa, laa, laa, my son sleeps. Laa, laa, laa.' Se stood up and went to her parents and said to them, "Father and mother, do you hear the sound of 'Laa, laa, laa, my son sleeps, laa, laa, laa.'? Father and mother, why is she saying Laa, laa, laa instead of the right zikr, 'La ilaha illallah'? Father, please let me go in the neighbour's home and tell her the right zikr." But her father did not allow her to go to the neighbour's home at that time of the night. He said she could go in the morning. She was so restless that she couldn’t sleep throughout the night. At Tahajjud time, she stood up, performed ablution, offered Tahajjud prayers and asked Allah سبحانہ وتعالی earnestly to enable her to explain to her neighbor that 'La ilaha illallah' is the right zikr instead of Laa, laa, laa.
In the morning, she went to the neighbour's home and mentioned the previous night’s event and told her that the right zikr is 'La ilaha illallha' instead of laa, laa, laa. Hearing this, the lady laughed loudly and said, ''I know that very well but I use the short form and my son also likes it and goes to sleep quickly.''
''Aunty, there is no short form in Islam and I assure you that Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala's right zikr is the sweetest thing in the world and your son will like it more and sleep more quickly. It is the greatest source of peace of mind in this world and will gain us paradise in the Hereafter.''
The lady realized her mistake and repented. She promised Javeria that she would not make that mistake again.
